The Yellow Rose of Texas

Texas Secedes from the United States:

Confederate Civil War Song:  The Yellow Rose of Texas....

The Secession Map that follows is presented by The American Interest--The Long Recall.

The New York Times--Disunion presents a narrative by Richard Parker, entitled Sam Houston, We Have a Problem,  on the issue of Slavery and Texas, what led up to and culminated in the Secession from the Union.  Texas became the seventh state to join the confederacy.  Governor Sam Houston, a Unionist, resisted the whole way, but eventually could not fight the numbers.  The whole story is at the link above.
